Creation and destruction. Knowledge and ignorance. Some call it madness. We call this Unadvanced War. Each player commands a ragtag posse of poverty-stricken motorcycle enthusiasts. Small at first, your gang will go on a spree of petty crime, building your economic strength. As word of your badassery spreads, others will flock to your cause. The objective is simple: complete control. To achieve this much sought after objective, one must conquer every building your archnemesis controls. Keep in mind that your opponent will try to destroy your power base, so balancing offence and defence is of integral importance. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Controls ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Unadvanced Wars is a fairly complicated game, and the controls, although fairly easy to understand, are difficult to master. The following section will enlighten you if you are not familiar with the Real-Time Strategy genre of gaming. To select a single unit, left click on it, and a variety of actions will then become available in the panel on the bottom right corner, otherwise known as the Action Panel. To select more than one unit, hold the left mouse button, and drag the cursor around a group of units. Any controllable units within the rectangle drawn by the cursor will then be selected. To move units, select the unit(s) you wish to move, then right-click to the location to which you want the unit moved, or use the move button (press "m" for a shortcut) in the Action Panel. Attacking with units involves pressing A on the keyboard, or selecting the attack button in the Action Panel, then clicking on the target. This same process can be used for taking over buildings, with the substitution of using the takeover button. Taking over a building requires selecting 1 worker unit and using the takeover button and select the target building, or simply right click on that building. This game also has several advanced features of note. Hotkeys can be used for easy selection of units. To "hotkey" a group of units, select the units you wish to group, and and "Control" and press the number you wish to assign the group to. Also of note is the information panel on the bottom of the screen. Here you will see the HP remaining of units (units with no HP will be destroyed), and the statistics of one selected unit. There also exists a minimap on the bottom left corner where you can see the units and buildings on the map. The units are represented by circles, and buildings are represented by rectangles. The colour of the minimap items represents what player controls that unit or building, where white items are under your control. You will probably take a couple of games to fully master these complex features, but don't be discouraged and have a good time crushing your enemies. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Map Editor ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// This game also includes the exciting feature of map creation. To create a map of your own design, simply open the map editor program included with the game. There are high quality maps already included in the game, they are made with this very program, and you may desire to construct your own work of art or modify the maps provided. The map editor is actually very simple. To create a map, simply click on "File" on the menubar, and select "New". A new window will appear where you may input the desired map size, number of players, and tiles that will compose your newly created map. To further modify this map, simply select "Tiles" tab on the left panel, and using the combo boxes provided, select the tiles you desire to place on the map. There are two types of tiles, regular tiles, which are the basic type, and compound tiles, which are sets of tiles representing an image. To place the tiles on the map simply move your mouse to the position on the map in the right panel, and left click. To add units or buildings to your map, select the "Units/Building" on the left panel, and using the combo boxes, select the unit or building you desire. Next, move your mouse to the location on the map where you wish to place this unit or building and left click. To remove a unit, simply select any unit and click on the unit you wish to remove. The same process follows for buildings, but you must select a building to do this. To save or load maps, use the "File" menu item to select the appropriate option.
